Encounters Film Festival 2019 is just under two weeks away (yay!) meaning there’s little time left to grab your passes to Bristol’s largest international film festival and with an action packed line-up like ours you won’t want to miss out.

Our passes grant access to hundreds of live action and animation shorts, immersive VR experiences and enlightening talks and masterclasses from top industry professionals. We’ll be capturing your attention with programmes such as Horror, Comedy and Sci-Fi and giving you the option to vote for your favourite in our Audience Awards.

This year’s Live Action competition programmes cover a wide selection of themes, such as touching matters of the heart with Ties That Bind, feelings of belonging with Places We Call Home and dark elements of the supernatural with Unseen Forces. Our Animation programmes showcases the visually beautiful, sometimes unusual creations from this year’s competing filmmakers. Combined with unparalleled storytelling, join us for programmes such as Ubiquitous Chip, Fake News! and Desire. We encourage you to become immersed in the interactive worlds brought to you by this year's VR competition, with three exciting programmes: Voices, The Frame and Through Time and Space.

Our family activity includes delights from our Children’s Jury programme, not to mention the return of Shorts2Features including some of our alumni favourites such as My Neighbour Totoro, School of Rock and In Bruges to name just a few! They’ll be some familiar faces, with screenings from Go Jetters, Numberblocks and Tree Fu Tom and on Saturday join us for a special showing of A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon.

A thrilling outdoor expanded cinema screening of David Lynch’s Fire Walk with Me takes place on Saturday and Sunday, a night-time woodland amphitheatre experience that’s not to be missed! And last but not least, on Friday night we’ll conclude the competitive strands of the festival by announcing the award-winners, followed by a special Tarantino-themed AV mash-up show from multi-award-winning hip-hop DJ and producer DJ YODA. This is your opportunity to party with the star filmmakers of tomorrow, exclusively for passholders.

All passes are valid for the duration of the festival week, with the Festival Pass priced at £85 providing access to booking for all screenings, talks, workshops and masterclasses (highlighted exclusions such as Compass Presents: Fire Walk with Me apply). For those that can’t commit to 6 whole days of film we’re offering our brand new £25 Discovery Pass. Choose up to 5 events and gain a taste of what Encounters has to offer, save money and experience unmissable films for a fraction of the cost, woo!
